| الفشل يعلم النجاح | Failure teaches success |
| كل ممنوع مرغوب | Forbidden fruit is sweet |

| لـبِّـس البوصة تُصبح عروسة | Fine feathers make fine birds |
| كلماتُ طيبة تزيل الغضب | Fair words slake wrath |
| بطون ممتلئة وعقول فارغة | Full stomachs, empty minds |
| تكثر الأخطار حيث تقل المحبة | Faults are thick where love is thin |
| نجا من المقلاة فوقع في النار | From the frying - pan into the fire |

| اللهم إحفظني من أصدقائي | God defend me from my friends |
| من أراد إغراق كلبه إتهمه بالجرب | Give a dog a bad name and hang him |

| إن الله يُمهل ولا يُهمل | God's mill grinds slow but sure |
| الطمع ضرَّ وما نفع | Grasp all, lose all |
| الحزن يضعف عمل العقل | Grief weakens the mind's action |
| الآمال الكبيرة تخلق العظماء | Great hopes make great men |
| توارد الأفكار يَحدث في العقول الكبار | Great minds think alike |
| العقول الكبيرة تتفق | Great minds agree |
| الأعمال الطيبة تبقى وما عداها ينفى | Great deeds remain, all thing perish |

| من حفر حفرة لأخيه وقع فيها | He who digs a pit to his brother, falls into it |

| من طلب العُـلى سهر الليالي | He who desires the top must sit up many nights |
| من زرع الريح حصد العاصفة | He who sows the wind shall reap the whirlwind |
| من حسنت سياسته دامت رئاسته | He who governs well may govern long |
| من يمشي في النور لا يتعثر | He who walks in the light will not fall |
| الجميل من يصنع الجميل | Handsome is who handsome does |
| نصف البطن تُـغني عن ملئه | Half a loaf is better than no bread |
| الأمانة خير ضمانة | Honestly is the best policy |

| الكسل مصدر كل الشرور | Idleness is the source of all evil |
| إذا أردت السلم فكن مستعداً للحرب | If you want peace, be prepared for war |

| الخبر السيء ينتشر بسرعة | Ill news travel fast |
| مال الحرام لا يدوم | Ill- gotten gains never proper |
| السلامة خير من الندامة | It is better to be safe than sorry |

| كثرة جلبة (ضوضاء) دون فائدة | Much ado about nothing |

| من هاب خاب | Nothing venture, nothing have |
| لا كسب دون تعب | No gains without pains |

| حيث تكونُ الجهالة نعيماً فمن الحماقة أن تكون حكيماً | Where ignorance is bliss, it is folly to be wise |
